On September 25th, 2017 a single-engine Piper PA-28R-201 airplaneclobbered the tail of a Robinson R22 helicopter while it was trying to land at the Clearwater Air Park in Florida. None of the three people involved—an instructor and student in the helicopter and a lone pilot in the plane—were seriously injured in the incident, a fact that’s pretty miraculous when you watch the recently released footage of the incident.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board report on the incident, the crash was caused in part by muddled traffic communications which led both aircraft to wind up on the same runway. Both craft were (obviously) seriously damaged, but that’s a small price to pay when you get to walk away.
